What you’ll do The Merchandising Solution Delivery organization manages the Merchandise Inventory and MarkDown software and systems that track where millions of products will move around the globe to our stores each day. Our team thrives on strong relationships with our business partners and is working diligently to address their needs which support TJX growth and operational stability. Experience of authoring functional/technical designs documents including performance, security and availability considerations Proven experience of developing new features and services that are medium to high level of complexity working with the Product, Platform, Infrastructure and Security teams Proven ability to design, code, test, deploy & support working software/technology components, working collaboratively with architects and other engineers Experience in delivering clean, secure, performant code / technology components that meets all non‑functional requirements Experience in leading discussions on design approaches to solving highly visible, strategic and complex business problems Experience in establishing development process definitions, best practices and standards Experience identifying emerging technologies for consideration for new technology direction and implementing proof of concepts to prove the new technology Proven ability to create Threat Model, Architecture, Estimates, Design, Code, and deliver for the required business feature Experience of acting in a Lead Engineer capacity formedium to large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance and resolving issues Proven ability to mentor more junior engineers across the technical domains/enterprise What you’ll need Our team is looking for people with a passion for technology, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to try new things to drive better solutions and get results. We are seeking a motivated, talented, experienced Staff Engineer who has deep Microsoft .NET Development knowledge and experience to design and implement business functionality in their assigned Platforms / Products using and creating DevSecOps best practices. We want people that can support and lead the technical strategy in their product team and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical associates. Minimum Experience 10+ years of hands‑on software development experience focused on the Microsoft .NET ecosystem (C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core). Extensive experience designing, developing, and optimizing SQL Server databases, including complex queries, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning. Ability to work with mainframe SMEs to reverse‑engineer logic and map it into modern .NET domain models. Ability to read, analyse and interpret Mainframe code such as COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB for z/OS schemas. Experience extracting and transforming data from Mainframe DB² and IMS. Hands‑on experience designing and building data extraction pipelines from mainframe systems into modern platforms (SQL, cloud storage, APIs, microservices). Experience working on large‑scale data migration or system modernization projects. Proven track record delivering high‑quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable applications across medium to large projects. Strong understanding of application architecture principles, API design, and modern development practices such as dependency injection, CI/CD, unit testing, and code quality standards. Experience collaborating closely with Product, Platform, Infrastructure, and Security teams to design and implement end‑to‑end technical solutions. Ability to lead technical discussions, provide architectural input, and solve complex, highly visible business problems. Demonstrated experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to engineering best practices, standards, and development processes. Desirable Experience Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), including App Services, Functions, Key Vault, APIM, and cloud‑native design patterns. Familiarity with modern frontend technologies (e.g., Angular, or Blazor) Experience with Entity Framework, LINQ, microservices architectures Extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including designing, optimizing, and supporting complex ETL processes, data workflows, and integration of pipelines. Experience with tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, or similar development and DevSecOps tools. Experience with performance profiling, debugging, and monitoring .NET and SQL Server applications in production environments. Knowledge of the automation tools (e.g. REXX, Python) is preferable. Experience mentoring engineers of varying levels, elevating engineering maturity, shaping development processes, and championing best‑in‑class development practices (CI/CD, testing strategies, code quality). Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
