Strategic Operations Associate

Move from advising to operating. Work directly with Alpha Origin’s founding and executive team on commercial, client, and company-building priorities, reporting to our Head of Strategic Operations, a former military officer and BCG consultant.

About Alpha Origin

Alpha Origin is a profitable, bootstrapped operational engineering firm. We help operators find where their systems are vulnerable to compromise or failure, then engineer and test the fixes. AO works across AI and hyperscale data centers, telecom, utilities and energy, financial services, and other critical infrastructure.

The AI infrastructure buildout is raising the complexity and consequence of failure across compute, power, and connectivity. AO was founded by Special Operations, intelligence community, and national laboratory engineers. The broader team includes former consultants, infrastructure operators, and investment professionals.

The Role

You will report to the Head of Strategic Operations. As his responsibilities expand, this role is intended to grow into his current seat and, from there, broader strategic operations leadership. This is a company-wide generalist role spanning commercial work, client delivery, and internal operations.

What You'll Do

• Run four to six commercial, client, and internal workstreams at once. Establish the plan, maintain momentum, and surface decisions or blockers early.

• Turn ambiguous priorities into clear recommendations, owners, and next steps.

• Prepare for and participate in client meetings. Build polished materials, track decisions, and own the follow-through.

• Build the systems, operating rhythms, and information flows that improve clarity, accountability, and execution speed.

• Find bottlenecks, dropped handoffs, and recurring manual work, then replace them with better processes, tools, or automations.

• Use AI tools across research, analysis, client work, and internal execution, and help AO redesign how it operates around them.

Who You Are

You are roughly one to two years into a pre-MBA role at a top management consulting firm and ready to move from advising to building. You can structure unfamiliar problems, develop a point of view, and manage several workstreams without losing the details or the larger objective. You work confidently with clients and senior stakeholders, communicate clearly, and learn technically complex subjects quickly. You operate with high agency, low ego, and limited direction.

Cybersecurity experience is not required. Judgment, curiosity, learning speed, and follow-through matter more.

The Environment

AO is small and high-trust. People work directly with senior leaders and clients, own outcomes, and earn broader scope quickly. There are few layers and little distance between decision and execution.

Location: Washington, D.C. strongly preferred. Candidates prepared to move within the next few months will be considered.

Compensation + Benefits

$140,000–$160,000 base salary, depending on experience. Profit sharing from day one. Participation in long-term company upside. Excellent healthcare and other benefits. Unlimited PTO.
