Nephrology Nurse Practitioner

Role Description The Nephrology Nurse Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based in Hickory, NC. This position involves conducting comprehensive patient assessments, obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests related to kidney function and hypertension. The Nurse Practitioner will develop and adjust treatment plans, prescribe medications as permitted, provide education on disease management and lifestyle modifications, and coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Daily responsibilities include managing follow-up visits, monitoring chronic kidney disease and hypertension, documenting encounters in the medical record, and supporting continuity of care across clinic, hospital, and dialysis settings. Qualifications Current Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina and national certification as an NP (e.g., FNP, ACNP, AGNP) or eligibility to obtain prior to start date. Demonstrated clinical experience or strong interest in nephrology, hypertension management, and chronic disease care. Ability to perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage complex patients in collaboration with supervising physicians. Strong skills in clinical documentation, use of electronic health records, and adherence to regulatory and practice standards. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse patient populations and multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and ongoing professional development. Master’s degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited program; experience in outpatient specialty or internal medicine settings preferred.
