About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, MAB or CPI accepted Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with electronic charting systems required Description: Universal Care RN needed with rotations required every other Saturday. The Registered Nurse will conduct initial nursing histories and assess patient conditions. Individual care plans will be developed and the effectiveness of those plans will be evaluated. Knowledge of care needs for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations is required. The nurse will coordinate the delivery of patient care and assign tasks to support personnel. Direct supervision of care provided by subordinates is expected. Direct patient care will be provided, including evaluations of outcomes and collaboration with other disciplines. Patient and significant other education on health care needs is essential. Documentation in the patient record must adhere to regulatory standards. The effectiveness of care plans will be evaluated through observation and communication with the patient and health team. Regulations for medical screening exams and triage protocols must be followed. A safe and therapeutic environment must be maintained for patients and families. Equipment must be kept clean and safe. Observations and reactions regarding patients must be reported to the physician. Assistance with patient exams and special procedures is required. Emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients must be instituted. Motivation and recognition of team members’ accomplishments should be stimulated. The nurse will participate actively in the orientation of new personnel and serve as a role model. Behavior supportive of management is essential. Care must be delivered in a manner that preserves client autonomy, dignity, and rights. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. The nurse may function as relief Charge Nurse as assigned. Participation in continuous quality improvement activities is expected. Professional growth and development through education programs and workshops should be pursued. Knowledge and skills should be shared with colleagues and other staff. The nurse will orient, instruct, and train assigned personnel. Competency must be demonstrated as directed by management. Clear and tactful communication with patients and families is required. Adherence to policies and procedures, safety, and infection control standards is mandatory. Participation on unit committees as assigned is expected. Sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy must be demonstrated. Procedures must be thoroughly explained to patients, ensuring their comfort and alleviating anxiety. Prompt responses to patient inquiries and requests are necessary. Work must be prioritized to provide efficient service. Attendance at 50% of unit staff meetings and review of 100% of minutes is required. Other related duties may be assigned. The nurse may be required to float to other units as needed. Identifying patients to initiate care will be part of the responsibilities.
