Innovation Attorney & Practice Advisor

Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking an Innovation Attorney & Practice Advisor to partner directly with attorneys and reimagine how legal services are delivered through AI and emerging technologies. This role sits at the intersection of legal practice and innovation, embedding within practice groups to evaluate workflows, identify high-impact opportunities for AI, and drive adoption from pilot through scale. The ideal candidate will bring several years of BigLaw experience, a strong consultative mindset, and hands-on familiarity with GenAI tools and applications. This is a highly strategic, client-facing role for someone who can translate between attorneys and technologists, lead change in a complex environment, and help shape the future of legal service delivery. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, New York, or Washington, D.C.

Practice-Embedded Advisory & Workflow Transformation

• Partner with practice leaders and attorneys to assess legal workflows and identify opportunities where AI and technology can create meaningful impact
• Apply prior legal practice experience to analyze and redesign workflows, moving beyond incremental improvements to more transformative solutions
• Facilitate working sessions with matter teams to identify pain points and co-develop practical, scalable solutions
• Build trust with partners and associates by leveraging prior practice experience to influence change and navigate firm dynamics
• Lead AI pilot programs and proof-of-concept initiatives from use case identification through evaluation and broader rollout

AI Tool Adoption & Enablement

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the adoption of AI tools within practice groups, driving usage from initial awareness to consistent integration into daily workflows
• Partner with training teams to develop and deliver targeted training sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations
• Work closely with product teams to test and refine AI tools for specific legal use cases, translating attorney feedback into actionable product insights
• Define success metrics, track adoption, and support the development of business cases for scaling successful initiatives
• Coordinate with knowledge management teams to ensure legal content and precedents are structured to effectively support AI tools

Market Intelligence & Innovation Scouting

• Stay current on developments in GenAI and legal technology, including LLMs, RAG, and emerging frameworks
• Support vendor evaluations and make vs buy decisions by contributing a practitioner’s perspective
• Participate in client-facing conversations to showcase the firm’s innovation capabilities and AI-enabled service delivery

Experience & Background

• JD required
• Several years of experience at an AmLaw 100 or similar law firm
• Strong consultative mindset with the ability to assess challenges and influence stakeholders
• Hands-on familiarity with AI tools and a strong interest in the evolving GenAI landscape
• Ability to translate between legal, business, and technical audiences
• Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts
• Proven ability to drive change and support adoption in professional services environments
• Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting

Expected salary for this role is $175,000 - $275,000, commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
