his/her floor, including social, educational, recreational, and floor and hall council

4. Develop trust and maintain confidentiality in the peer assistant role.

5. Maintain familiarity with the locations and operations of departmental, campus and

community offices and organizations (e.g. Career Services, Student Support Services,

Academic Resource Center Office of Resident Life Director, etc.) and make referrals

when appropriate.

III. Residence Hall Programming:

1. Utilize events and activities that already exist on campus and in the Trenton community

that meet the needs and interests of students.

2. Coordinate events for the purpose of promoting interpersonal interaction and

community development.

evaluating RAs.

2. Assume duty responsibility according to the formal and/or informal hall schedule and

remain on call/duty as required.

cooperation with Campus Dining staff, and other duties as assigned.

4. Each LRA will be expected to be on duty 1 night each week of the semester, participate

in the weekend duty rotation. Duty nights will be scheduled during training before each

semester begins with the Resident Hall Coordinator.

V. Health and Safety:

1. Become familiar with fire safety equipment, and coordinate the fire drill program on the

floor.

2. Be available and report all safety hazards and maintenance concerns.

3. Assist the Residence Hall Coordinator as assigned in emergencies.

VI. Residence Hall Regulations:

1. Provide continuous interaction and example which encourages students to act with

reason, to assume responsibility for their actions, and to be consistently considerate of

the rights and freedoms of others.

2. Know and adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to student behavior and

residence hall organizations and communicate them to residents.

3. Develop consistent methods of enforcing rules and regulations, and assist students in

developing methods of self-enforcement.

concerning the environment of the floor via weekly reflections, 1:1 meetings, and staff

meetings. Be prepared to take a leadership role in staff meetings and trainings.

3. Attend and participate in all training and staff meetings.

4. Develop and promote a positive working relationship with all residence hall staff,

including RAs, RCs, Secretaries, Custodial/Maintenance and Campus Dining employees.

5. Each RA is expected to send a daily duty report at the end of each night, when on duty,

to both RC’s and the Director of Resident Life.

OTHER:

1. Employment is normally for the academic year; however, continued employment is subject to

satisfactory performance. Individual evaluations of the Resident Assistant will be made during

each semester by the Residence Hall Coordinator. This evaluation will be shared with the

Resident Assistant.

room at Pirate Plaza.

3. Circumstances may arise that necessitate the transfer of Resident Assistants within the College

Residence Hall system. Responsibility for transfer rests with the Office of Residence Life.

4. Resident Hall staff have key card access and access to sub-master keys; misuse of this access or

loss/misplacement of keys may be considered cause for termination of employment.

5. LRAs and RAs are recognized by the College as strong role models for all Residence Hall

students. In conjunction with this recognition, it is expected that all RA staff will present a

positive attitude and example with regard to responsible behavior and responsible alcohol use.

6. Other related duties as assigned. Each Residence Hall Coordinator and staff may discover

particular needs within their hall, which are not addressed in this Job Description. The Office of

Residence Life encourages this individuality and creativity in job performance.

7. North Central Missouri College and the Student Services division reserve the right to make

decisions to terminate employment due to incidents that are not addressed in this Job

Description, including but not limited to conduct that is detrimental or unbecoming as an

employee of North Central Missouri College. These may include, but not be limited to
