Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Oncology

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Surgical Oncology to provide high-quality patient care for our adult to geriatric population. The ideal candidate will have expertise in oncology and hematology nursing, demonstrating knowledge of various oncologic emergencies and treatments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patient care from diagnosis through end-of-life in oncology cases.
• Administer chemotherapy and manage pain control using morphine drips, dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps.
• Perform regular assessments and adjust care plans as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care following protocols, including DNR/CC management.
• Respond to oncologic emergencies effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure adherence to chemotherapy precautions and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certifications required.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system is required.

Work Environment

• Caring for a diverse patient population with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6.
• Unit setup includes 19 beds with an average daily census of 15 patients.
• Occasional duties may require floating to other units within the facility or nearby locations.

Work Schedule

• Shifts are scheduled as 4x12-hour nights, from 19:00 to 07:00.
• Every other weekend commitment is required.
• Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 7 days.

Holiday Requirements

Travelers are required to work on major holidays as follows:

• If one major holiday falls within the assignment, work is expected.
• If two major holidays fall within the assignment, work is expected for both.
• If three major holidays occur during the assignment, work is expected for two of the holidays.

Compliance

Full compliance with all required credentials is necessary to start on time. Delays in compliance will result in a two-week postponement due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Scrub Color

The required scrub color is navy blue.
