Materials Inspector I

Job Title Materials Inspector I Location Granite City, IL Hourly Pay Range $22/hr - $24/hr Work Schedule Mon - Fri 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Pay Schedule Weekly Job Summary The Material Inspector I will be responsible for weighing and grading materials in order to ensure accurate shipping/receiving and inventory records. The position requires someone with the ability to multitask, function in a high-volume and fast-paced atmosphere, work efficiently with multiple company departments, excellent communication, detail-oriented, great organizational skills and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Coordinate unloading of materials and ensure accuracy of material weights. Coordinate loading of material with proper weight distribution. Provide clear instructions to other team members. Navigate within the company database. Proficient in receiving or shipping of domestic and international materials. Develop materials knowledge using the tools and resources provided. Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals. Maintain cleanliness and accuracy of scale equipment and dock areas. Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other records as assigned. Perform other duties assigned with flexibility to work in other departments as needed. Qualifications Work independently and as a team, in a safe and efficient manner, and follow safety policies and procedures. Adhere to health and safety regulations; use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Be medically cleared, fit‑tested, and qualified to wear a respirator when applicable. Maintain appropriate personal grooming to ensure an effective respirator seal. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent. Experience working with computerized scale systems and related software and equipment. Strong communication skills. Self‑motivated with problem‑solving skills. Comprehend and carry out written and oral instructions. Maintain attendance with dependability and consistency. Be attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety. Maintain safety as a high priority in all aspects of responsibility. Physical Demands Stand, walk, negotiate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms. Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces. Exposed to production environments not temperature‑controlled. Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools. Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment. Stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods. Lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
