Paraprofessional Specialist - Pre-K Program (2026-27 SY) FTE 1

School Year 2026-27 School Year 171 days per year. 7.5 hours per day. Qualifications Must have 60 college credit hours, or pass the Paraprofessional Test in the State of Missouri or complete the 20‑hour online substitute training program. Purpose Statement The job of Paraprofessional Specialist was established to provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with at‑risk students one‑on‑one, following educational and specific behavioral plans; documenting students’ daily activities, and modeling appropriate behaviors and interactions with students and staff. Essential Functions Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives. Communicates with a variety of professionals (e.g., Speech Therapist, PTs, COTAs) to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives. Collects student and classroom data to monitor growth, propose IEP/BIP revisions, and facilitate instruction and behavior supports. Provides accommodations and modifications to increase accessibility in general education and special education settings. Stays current on educational practices through targeted professional development. Maintains confidentiality of students’ information following policies and guidelines. Maintains manual and electronic files for record‑keeping and compliance. Models conversation, manners, clean‑up activities, listening, and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit. Provides instruction to students under the direction of the classroom teacher to implement IEP goals and support mainstream integration. Monitors students during assigned periods to ensure safety, de‑escalate issues, and remove students when necessary. Responds to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns. Responsibilities Works under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leads, guides, coordinates others; operates within defined budgets. Working Environment Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing, with minimal temperature variations. Experience Job related experience is required. Education Targeted job‑related education that meets the organization’s prerequisite requirements. Must have 60 college credit hours or pass the Paraprofessional Test in the State of Missouri.
