We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to lead and manage the full payroll function with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and employee experience. The role is ideal for someone with deep hands‑on payroll expertise who understands the complexities of multi‑state payroll processing, payroll regulations, tax compliance, audits, and reporting. The Senior Payroll Specialist will serve as a key resource for payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. In addition to day‑to‑day payroll responsibilities, this individual will help drive process improvements and support payroll system enhancements. Key Responsibilities Own and manage the full end‑to‑end payroll process for employees, including payroll calculations, processing, deductions, garnishments, and reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations. Conduct regular payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies. Prepare, review, and analyze payroll reports, including overtime, labor costs, tax filings, and benefit deductions. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll questions, resolving issues related to pay, taxes, deductions, and benefits. Partner closely with HR and Finance to ensure employee data, benefit elections, and payroll records are accurate and up to date. Maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and ensure compliance. Support payroll system updates, enhancements, and testing in partnership with IT and vendors. Stay informed on changing payroll legislation, compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Assist in training and mentoring payroll team members as needed. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a high‑volume or complex payroll environment. Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, garnishments, and multi‑state compliance requirements. Proven experience managing payroll operations with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Experience using payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms. Advanced Excel and payroll reporting skills preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally across HR, Finance, and employees at all levels.
