Job Description

The incumbent Supervisory Physician (Psychiatry) will serve in a detention facility staffed by ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), providing care for detainees in ICE Custody. The IHSC has a multi-sector, multidisciplinary workforce of more than 900 employees, including commissioned corps officers of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS), Federal civil employees, and contract staff. The General Practice (Staff Physician) reports directly to the Clinical Director at their respective site as available or the Regional Clinical Director. The incumbent Physician (General Practice) conducts a program of primary medical care with responsibility for examination, diagnosis, and treatment, and emergency care of patients. As a Physician (General Practice), GP-15, you will perform the following duties:

1. Directly supervise psychiatrists and/or psychiatric advance practice providers (APP) within their respective region, and may provide clinical supervision to other mental health staff.
2. Provide psychiatric care in the treatment of the full range of psychiatric problems.
3. Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medication treatment services, including monitoring side effects and adverse reactions.
4. Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems and provide professional consultation to and collaborative medical support to other professional staff.
5. Provides expert guidance to the clinical directors and other staff in all matters pertaining to mental health treatment and mental health programs both domestic and international.
6. Oversees psychiatric APP peer review processes and develops corrective action plans when required.
