Through one of its most prominent national client relationships, attorneys have the opportunity to work directly with Amazon's in-house legal department on complex, high-exposure litigation matters across the country. The Opportunity Our client is seeking an Of Counsel, Litigation Attorney to join its Houston, TX office. This is a hybrid position offering significant autonomy, direct client interaction, and exposure to high-profile litigation matters on a national scale. Unlike traditional insurance defense roles, this position involves working directly with Amazon's legal team on sophisticated litigation matters involving transportation, trucking, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and emerging legal issues. Rather than reporting through carriers, adjusters, or third-party administrators, attorneys become a trusted extension of Amazon's legal department and play a meaningful role in litigation strategy, risk evaluation, and case management. Key Responsibilities Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution. Work directly with Amazon's in-house legal team on litigation strategy and case management. Handle pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, and motion practice. Draft motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and mediation statements. Prepare and defend fact and expert witnesses. Conduct hearings, court appearances, and settlement negotiations. Evaluate liability, exposure, and litigation risk. Develop case strategies and litigation budgets. Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and jurisdictions. Prepare clients for mediation, trial, and other key litigation milestones. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Active Texas bar admission preferred. 8+ years of litigation experience required. Experience handling complex tort, casualty, transportation, trucking, or commercial litigation matters. Strong deposition and motion practice experience. Exceptional legal research, writing, and advocacy skills. Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters. Experience communicating directly with corporate clients. Strong strategic thinking and case management abilities.
