Locations Recruit CT Fairfield, 1080 Old Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824, USA Recruit CT Bridgeport, Any street, Bridgeport, CT 06601, USA Compensation Hourly Range: $0.01 to $999 Rate: $18 per hour Pay or shift range: $18 to $20 Full-Time Full-Time Shift: Monday-Friday rotating weekends and holidays 4:30am-12:30pm Pay Range: $18.00-$20.00 Based on experience with Mileage reimbursement Description The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They are responsible for completing their assigned routes in a safe and timely manner. They must follow all policies and procedures. Tasks and Responsibilities Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by company dispatcher. Unload phlebotomy tray and take to patient’s bedside to collect samples ordered by physician. Accurately identify patient before collecting specimen(s). Accurately collect, label, process, and deliver specimens obtained from patients. Reload equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery. Regularly communicate with dispatcher to report status and location. Strict adherence to Universal Precautions in controlling blood‑borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures. Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational requirements. Keep work area clean. Follow all required safety precautions all the time. Report any unsafe conditions in the workplace. Report all complaints and problems encountered. Monitor supplies inventory, report low stock or out‑of‑stock situations, identify and segregate any expired supplies. Arrange shift to include meal breaks, maintain time records, deliver to company as directed. Follow all specimen preservation, patient preparation and specimen management processes and procedures as written. Use approved current documents only. Carries out assignments as per supervisor instructions; may be called on evenings and weekends; may have irregular unscheduled overtime. Required Skills Practices excellent communication and interaction skills specific to the population served, including the pediatric and geriatric communities. Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledges residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse. Demonstrate regular attendance. Must have a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required). Must have a current, valid State Driver’s license, car insurance, good driving record, and possess a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements. Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture using both vacutainer and syringe techniques. Knowledge of laboratory operations. Maintains sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination. Physical Demands Requires walking, standing, handling, talking, and hearing frequently; occasionally sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; may lift or move up to 35 pounds; requires close vision and depth perception. Work Environment Standard medical laboratory environment with potential health hazards. Safe operation in accordance with health and safety policies. Use of personal protective equipment required.
