For the world's and people's tomorrows; the world's first, the world's best technologies and products; we will continue our part in creating a better society.Job DescriptionPosition Objective:The Shop Technician is responsible for inspection, disassembly, reassembly, and testing of generators, motors, pumps and gen sets. Completion of all necessary paperwork in accordance with all quality standards with minimal guidance.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Ability to understand mechanical and basic electrical operation of motors, generators, and pumpsResponsible for disassembly of generators, motors, pumps, gen sets, J-Boxes and all components connectedResponsible for understanding and making detailed hand drawings of all electrical connections and any additional information needed to reassemble equipmentResponsible for the testing of all electrical components of equipment during teardown and reassemblyResponsible for minor modifications to frame with torch and welding machineMust be able to use gauges, such as inside and outside micrometers, to measure machine fits, including bearing housing and shaft fits and document readings as requiredMust perform standard maintenance on all shop equipment used in mechanics area. Includes bench grinders, lead crimpers, vises, air tools, etc.Responsible for the installation of bearings and hub on shaft, stators in housings, and checking advancement as requiredResponsible for accurate reassembly of equipment, including but not limited to reconditioning of rotating field, exciter armature, exciter field, rectifier, sleeve bearings, AC & DC motors, pumps and gen setsResponsible for test running equipment after completion, monitoring, and documenting all test resultsComplete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basisOperate company equipment (i.e. forklift, crane, hand tools etc.) in a safe and efficient manner in the performance of all duties as requiredComply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical mannerComplete all required safety trainingObserve all safety procedures and use proper protective gear for all tasksResponsible for maintaining clean and orderly work area free of hazardsMust provide all necessary hand toolsPerforms all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures, if requiredPerform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisorExperience/Skills:Ability to successfully complete all required training, in-house / off-siteMust be willing work evenings and/or weekends, if requiredPossess valid identificationBe able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements, if travel requiredForklift and overhead crane certification requiredQuick troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsBasic/Experienced mechanic knowledgeBasic computer skillsGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to read, write and follow work instructionsAbility to interface with co-workers and customersAbility to prioritize, organize and meet deadlinesTeam player attitude with the ability to work with minimal supervisionAdditional Job DetailsEducation:High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 0 – 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
