Performs advanced senior‑level database analysis, design, administration, and support work for enterprise data systems. Work involves planning and overseeing database operations; ensuring effective storage, retrieval, integration, customization, and archiving of data; developing and implementing database standards, policies, and procedures; monitoring and improving database performance; and ensuring data integrity, security, availability, and recoverability. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in support of the HHSC Division for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Health Services. Responsibilities Design, configure, administer, and support databases to ensure integrity, security, performance, and accessibility of agency data. Support analysts and other users in accessing reliable information, maintain stable and efficient database operations, and coordinate database changes across development, test, and production environments. Focus on Oracle 19c or higher databases, Informatica/Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), SSRS and Power BI reporting solutions, and data warehouse structures. This full‑time position requires work outside regular business hours to support releases, maintenance, incident response, and recovery activities, including travel to other work locations. Essential Job Functions (EJFs) Oversees and evaluates database software packages and tools for implementation; supports the design, modification, installation, upgrade, and maintenance of database structures and software; handles logical and physical data modeling; monitors performance; and recommends efficiency and capacity improvements. (30%) Conducts performance and operational testing procedures; troubleshoots problems; develops test scripts; verifies migration results; reviews backup and recovery processes; and documents recommended improvements. (30%) Oversees and evaluates the implementation of database security standards, controls, and user access levels; develops policies to ensure integrity, security, confidentiality, and recoverability; and supports auditing and access reviews. (20%) Provides status reports on enhancement activities; notifies manager of critical issues; attends status meetings; updates assignments in the ticketing system; and communicates through various channels. (10%) Facilitates information sharing to prevent single points of failure; conducts discussions, reviews documentation, and provides recommendations to stakeholders.
