Job Title: Med Surg/Tele RN - 7N Ortho/Uro/Neuro Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Med Surg/Tele Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1900 to 0730) Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience Description: This position is for a Med Surg/Tele RN specializing in Orthopedic, Urology, and Neuro patients. The unit typically handles a variety of diagnoses, including orthopedic trauma, vascular conditions, urological procedures, and neuro-spine surgeries. RNs will be responsible for titrating prescribed medications, such as heparin, and occasionally nitroglycerin, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin. Telemetry technicians will monitor patients continuously, and RNs will not be required to read their own strips. A charge nurse is present on all shifts and takes an assignment. Nursing assistants support the unit, with varying ratios throughout the day and night. Respiratory therapy support is available, but mechanical ventilation is not provided. RNs may be required to float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units as necessary. The dress code is clean and professional, with scrubs in any color. Training includes a computer training session and precepted orientation on the floor. Every other weekend and holiday availability is required.
