Summary Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation period. Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas (e.g., music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical education, languages, health). Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas (e.g., music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical educations, languages). Description Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. This position will remain open until filled. 3.0 hours per day/174 days per year/Salary Grade 6 $19.98 per hour (2026-27 Support Salary Table) [Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase]

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation period. Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas (e.g., music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical educations, languages). Educational Requirements: 1. High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience. 2. Formal education or training in area of specializing preferred. 3. Educational Requirement: The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test will be required at a later date. Knowledge & Ability: 1. Knowledge of subject matter areas associated with assigned courses. 2. Strong interpersonal skills required for interaction with students, teachers and other school personnel. 3. Ability to effectively teach assigned course subjects. Job-Related Experience: 1.
