Shift Details:

• Days, 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, 40 hrs/weeks

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

• The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements
• Assistant dentist with the treatment of inmates/residents by setting up all instruments for each patient and treatment to be rendered and preparing impressions and filling materials.
• After each treatment, sterilize the dental unit and instruments used and replace instruments prior to the next patient treatment.
• Control medication, syringes and other dental supplies or equipment; inventory as required by established procedures
• Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods. Review dental services provided to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review status of inmates/residents for completion of all necessary intervention and treatments and services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current, valid, and unrestricted TN license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Must have 2+ years of chair-side dental assisting experience, completion of a Dental Assistant training program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating X-ray equipment, processing film, and interpreting dental radiographs.
• Passed DANB dental assisting/X-ray certification exam and current State Board of Dentistry certification.
• Current valid CPR certification issued by the AHA.
• General knowledge of dental equipment, procedures, and terminology.
• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for up to four continuous hours twice daily.
• Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents .
