Commercial Construction Estimator

An established company based in Garden City, NY with over 35 years in operation is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator with 3-7+ years of commercial estimating experience to join their team onsite. This role focuses on estimating luxury and national retail construction projects for brands such as Coach, Prada, Nike, Christian Dior, and Zara, ranging from $500K-$5M, requiring strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of commercial construction estimating processes, including conceptual estimating, preconstruction, and BIM-based takeoffs.

Qualifications: 3-7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience is required Demonstrated experience estimating luxury and national retail construction projects for brands such as Coach, Prada, Nike, Christian Dior, and Zara Proven experience with projects ranging from $500K-$5M in value Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, labor, and subcontractor coordination Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, specifications, and design narratives Working knowledge of BIM and the ability to read, assemble, and extract reports from BIM models Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail NY residency required within 45 miles of the Garden City office

Responsibilities: Review RFPs including plans, specifications, sketches, design narratives, addenda, and related documentation Attend pre-bid meetings, verify existing site conditions, and analyze factors that may affect constructability Prepare customized bidders lists, carefully selecting the most appropriate and likely-to-bid subcontractors for each project Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for luxury and national retail construction projects Analyze blueprints and other documentation to develop time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Consult with clients, vendors, and internal personnel to formulate estimates and resolve cost-related issues Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, and services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as projects develop Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding changes and adjustments to cost estimates Present completed estimates to management for use in planning and project budget development Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors Follow up with subcontractors throughout the bidding period to maintain open communication, gauge interest, and field RFIs Analyze historical project data and apply findings to current estimating efforts Perform conceptual estimating and preconstruction services Read, assemble, and produce appropriate reports from BIM models Review scope definitions and prepare quality surveys and quantity takeoffs Identify critical issues that may impact cost-sensitive areas of a project Initiate price inquiries from sub-trades and suppliers Manage workload to ensure adequate time and resources are allocated to each respective project Report directly to the Head of Estimating and the Director of Operations
