The Banquet Captain plays a key role in coordinating and executing events within our event facilities. This position ensures exceptional service, leads banquet staff, and oversees event setup and breakdown. Working closely with the Senior Event Manager and Event Manager, the Banquet Captain upholds the hotel’s high service standards while creating memorable experiences for guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Event Coordination & Service Execution Oversee event setup, ensuring tables, linens, centerpieces, A/V equipment, and food service areas are arranged according to event specifications. Direct and motivate banquet staff, ensuring smooth service flow and adherence to high hospitality standards. Act as the primary on‑site point of contact, collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to execute event details. Monitor food and beverage service, ensuring quality, timeliness, and guest satisfaction. Assist with bar setup and ensure compliance with alcohol service regulations. Troubleshoot and resolve any guest concerns or service issues during events. Pre‑& Post‑Event Responsibilities Review the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to confirm event details, schedules, and special requirements. Conduct pre‑event briefings with staff to communicate event expectations. Ensure banquet areas are clean, stocked, and properly set before guest arrival. Supervise post‑event breakdown, including clearing tables, storing equipment, and ensuring all service areas are properly cleaned. Assist with inventory management of banquet supplies and equipment. Secure the venue post‑event, including turning off lights, locking doors, and storing valuables. Qualifications Two years of banquet, catering, or hospitality experience. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with Point‑of‑Sale (POS) systems and basic Microsoft Office proficiency. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment. Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods. Preferred Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in hospitality, business management, or related field. Alcohol service certification. ServSafe certification. Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ethical conduct. Position Details Part‑time position reporting to the Event Manager and Senior Event Manager. May require occasional local travel.
