Job Summary

The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate Bigelow 9 General Medicine, and Bigelow 13 RACU Why This Role Is Important? The RACU/General Medicine is an eighteen-bed unit crafted for the care of patients requiring focused pulmonary care and the care of patients with general medical diagnoses. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, conscientious patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner. PCAs will float between two units, Bigelow 9 General Medicine, and Bigelow 13 RACU.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Basic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred Nursing Assistant [LNA - Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Board of Nursing preferred Experience Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Strong patient/customer service skills. - Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. - Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
