Job Summary Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical HVAC Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects, drawing on a strong construction estimating background, analytical skills, and a commitment to high‑quality results. Responsibilities Review plan and specs to ensure estimates comply with initial bid documents and send RFIs. Review and evaluate cost estimates for HVAC systems and related mechanical components. Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects to ensure accurate and complete estimates. Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders for all products and services. Ensure timely completion of estimates and meet strict deadlines. Understand the scope of work to bid and develop comprehensive cost analyses. Manage bid pricing from all vendors and establish strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to gather data and ensure accuracy in estimates. Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process and improve accuracy. Attend pre‑bid meetings. Follow up on completed bids and obtain feedback to baseline and enhance bids with stronger cost analysis. Turnover or hand off the awarded bids to Operations for Project Management team control. Requirements & Qualifications Three (3) years’ experience in construction estimating, preferably in the HVAC or mechanical contracting industry. Ability to read and understand blueprints, architectural plans, and specifications. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred. Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, particularly related to HVAC systems. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, estimating software, Outlook, Adobe, and Bluebeam. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills and strong math skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Ability to multi‑task and work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to delivering high‑quality estimates and maintaining strong vendor and GC relationships.
