Staff DentistFlexible hours - can work 4-9 hour days or 5-8 hour daysPosition Purpose: The Dentist is responsible for providing preventive and primary dental care consistent with the dentist's training and experience in a community health center setting to patients of HPWO.QualificationsEducation/Certification: Graduate of an accredited dental school is required.Required Knowledge: Successful completion of in-house training.Experience Required:Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges is required.Current Ohio DEA registrationUnrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Ohio.CPR – BLS (basic life support) required.Excellent interpersonal and written communication skillsKnowledge of public health principles and practicesAbility to work with a culturally-diverse staff and patient populationAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with HPWO management and medical staff members.Ability to lift 20-50 pounds.Benefits$199,992.00 yearly salary and goes up based on experience$20,000.00 Sign-On Bonus with a 4-year commitmentInsurance (Medical, Dental, and Vision)Paid Time Off (PTO)Paid Holidays403b Retirement with up to 8% match (starts at 3% and increases with time of service at HPWO)Eligible to Apply for National Health Service Corps Loan RepaymentContinuing Education Money ($3,000 prorated the first year) that can be used for license, DEA, memberships, CE classes and travel expenses.Employee Assistance ProgramAnnual RaisesEssential Functions and Basic DutiesExamines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other records or paper work as shall be required from time to time by the Health Center.Educates individuals on the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.Supervises dental residents and dental students, as needed.Actively participate in the Dental Quality Improvement Program, and other health center committees as assigned.Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of community health center staff as requested.Travels when necessary to fulfill HPWO's needs, and attends meetings as necessary to represent HPWO.Maintains and updates skills and knowledge to appropriate professional levels with continuing education courses and educational materials.Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG guidelines, other State and Federal laws).This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.Participates in recruitment/retention activities for HPWO as necessary.Work EnvironmentWork is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking.
