REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Regional Sales Manager to lead and support sales activities while overseeing the quotation and estimating process for medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution equipment. This role combines sales leadership, customer relationship management, technical quotation development, and cross-functional coordination. The Regional Sales Manager will work closely with outside sales representatives, customers, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to develop competitive proposals, support sales opportunities, and ensure a smooth transition from quotation through order award. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment, proven sales leadership capabilities, and the ability to balance customer needs, commercial objectives, and operational requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Leadership and Customer Relationships

• Manage and support outside sales representatives within the assigned region to achieve sales objectives and strengthen customer relationships.
• Provide guidance and support to outside sales personnel throughout the sales cycle, including opportunity development, customer inquiries, quotations, and order follow-up.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, manufacturer representatives, and other key business partners.
• Identify new business opportunities, support regional sales growth, and help develop strategies to expand market presence.
• Coordinate with outside sales representatives to prioritize opportunities, address customer needs, and support successful outcomes.

Technical Quoting and Estimating

• Review customer specifications, electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and bid documents for medium-voltage switchgear opportunities ranging from 5 kV to 38 kV.
• Evaluate equipment scope, technical requirements, commercial terms, exceptions, and missing information needed to complete quotations.
• Oversee and support the preparation of accurate, competitive quotations, ensuring pricing, delivery schedules, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions are clearly defined.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to establish equipment configurations, costs, material availability, and lead times.
• Request and evaluate vendor quotations for major components and ensure responses align with bid deadlines.
• Complete quote requests and manage quotation records, revisions, and opportunity information within company systems.
• Support quotation revisions, value engineering discussions, and technical and commercial clarifications.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Project Management to support customer requirements and sales commitments.
• Ensure clear communication of customer expectations, technical requirements, and commercial terms.
• Facilitate a thorough handoff to Project Management and Engineering when orders are awarded.
• Identify opportunities to improve quotation accuracy, estimating tools, proposal templates, and bid review practices.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS

• Experience in outside sales, sales management, or regional sales leadership, preferably within electrical equipment manufacturing or a related industry.
• Experience with medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, or power distribution equipment preferred.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret technical specifications.
• Experience with technical quoting, estimating, proposal development, or applications engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and develop outside sales personnel while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Strong commercial judgment, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple sales opportunities and quotations with competing deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and CRM or ERP systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Technical degree or equivalent relevant industry experience preferred.
