Purchasing Agent

We are happy to be partnered with a well-established, mission-driven organization in the northwest suburbs of Chicago is seeking a proactive and highly organized Purchasing Agent to support its business office and purchasing operations. What You’ll Do Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors Assist employees and departments throughout the purchasing process Prepare, process, track, and close purchase orders and requisitions Review major vendors and obtain competitive quotes to ensure favorable pricing Monitor pricing changes and identify cost-saving alternatives, products, or purchasing strategies Negotiate with vendors and resolve pricing, service, delivery, or product-related concerns Recommend acceptable product substitutions when appropriate Partner with departments and leadership to understand purchasing needs Maintain purchasing records, vendor information, catalogs, and frequently ordered product details Provide Accounts Payable with the documentation needed to process vendor payments Ensure purchasing activity follows internal policies, approval processes, and procedures Support additional business office and purchasing initiatives as needed What We’re Looking For At least two years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, vendor management, or a related function Previous experience working directly with vendors, contractors, or suppliers Previous experience preparing and processing purchase orders Experience partnering across departments and helping employees navigate the purchasing process Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet deadlines Confidence working independently and taking ownership of projects Strong computer and data-entry skills High school diploma or equivalent required Additional Requirements Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening, including a physical, drug screening, background check, and TB test.
