Survey Crew Chief – Power, Energy & Land Development

Locations: Lincolnshire, Lombard, or Naperville, IL

We're looking for Survey Crew Chiefs who thrive in the field, lead with confidence, and take pride in precision. These roles are centered on land development, power, and renewable energy projects , giving you the opportunity to work on everything from expansive solar fields to complex construction staking for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

• Lead field operations on large boundary surveys, renewable energy sites, and land development projects , ensuring quality and precision from start to finish
• Perform construction staking for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments—setting the groundwork for successful builds
• Set control, run layout, and deliver accurate data for topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys
• Operate and maintain Trimble equipment (GPS, total stations, data collectors) with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
• Start your day from your company vehicle , heading directly to project sites that challenge and reward your expertise
• Review, verify, and fine-tune field data—because precision isn't optional
• Maintain clear, thorough field notes to ensure seamless coordination with office and CAD teams
• Work independently or lead a small crew, taking full ownership of your projects
• Mentor junior staff—sharing your knowledge, experience, and commitment to doing things the right way
• Participate in training, industry conferences, and development opportunities to keep your skills sharp

• 7+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
• Strong experience with large boundary surveys and power/renewable energy projects
• Proven background in construction staking and land development (residential, commercial, mixed-use)
• Expertise using Trimble equipment and Trimble Business Center
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, plats, and survey data with confidence
• Strong communication and leadership skills—keeping your crew aligned and projects on track
• High attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, reliable work
• Flexibility to travel occasionally for large-scale or specialized projects

Pay Range

$28—$50 USD
