The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial  Executive Chef/Partner to lead the culinary vision and operations of The Jewel.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the earliest stages of a restaurant’s development, with the creative freedom to develop a distinctive menu, establish culinary standards, and build a talented team from the ground up.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on culinary leader with a strong appreciation for Indian cuisine, a thoughtful approach to innovation, and the ability to balance creativity with operational and financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Development & Leadership

• Develop and execute a culinary vision that celebrates Modern Indian cuisine through thoughtful creativity, quality ingredients, and exceptional presentation.
• Lead menu development, recipe testing, costing, and ongoing culinary innovation.
• Establish and maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and guest experience.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a talented culinary team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

Pre-Opening Development

• Collaborate with ownership on kitchen design, equipment selection, and culinary operational planning.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of the opening culinary team.
• Develop culinary systems, standardized recipes, purchasing procedures, and operating standards.
• Establish supplier relationships, ingredient sourcing, and inventory management systems.
• Oversee culinary readiness, menu execution, and team preparation leading up to opening.

Operations & Financial Management

• Direct daily culinary operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and excellence in execution.
• Manage food costs, culinary labor, inventory, purchasing, and departmental financial performance.
• Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with ownership and restaurant leadership to support the overall success and continued evolution of the concept.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of culinary leadership experience in upscale, fine-dining, or chef-driven restaurant environments.
• Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, regional flavors, ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in menu development, recipe execution, and culinary innovation.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and lead high-performing culinary teams.
• Strong understanding of food cost controls, inventory management, purchasing, and labor management.
• Experience in restaurant openings, concept development, or culinary repositioning is preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach with a genuine passion for food, hospitality, and team development.

Compensation

Annual Base Salary: Up to $105,000, based on experience, plus performance-based bonus.
