Controller

The Controller is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, treasury support, and operational finance partnership. This role involves close collaboration with plant leadership, corporate finance, operations, and the CFO to ensure accurate reporting, maintain strong controls, enhance cost visibility, and provide timely financial insights to support business decisions.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Preparing and submitting required financial reports to corporate headquarters.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and corporate reporting policies.
• Supporting internal and external audit processes.
• Owning and maintaining standard cost systems.
• Analyzing cost variances and overseeing inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory.
• Partnering with operations to support cost control and efficiency initiatives.
• Supporting capital expenditure analysis related to plant investments.
• Leading annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
• Tracking plant performance against budget and explaining key variances.
• Providing financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
• Ensuring strong internal controls over financial reporting and inventory.
• Overseeing tax compliance coordination, including income tax, sales/use tax, and property tax.
• Monitoring updates to accounting and regulatory requirements and implementing necessary changes.
• Coordinating with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings.
• Monitoring cash position and working capital, including AR, AP, and inventory.
• Supporting intercompany transactions and cash settlements.
• Assisting the CFO with banking-related activities as needed.

Essential skills include:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• 8-12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong cost accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
• Ability to manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

• Bilingual in Korean is a nice-to-have skill.

Job type and location: This is a permanent position based out of Farmington Hills, MI.

Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $102,000.00 - $108,200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Working to get company benefits ASAP.

Workplace type: This is a fully onsite position in Farmington Hills, MI.
