Position Summary The Senior Development Accountant Fixed Asset Specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing shopping center fixed asset accounting, ensuring timely reporting, while maintaining strong policy controls; and for the management of loan draw down requests to lenders. Reporting to the Development Controller, the Senior Development Accountant Fixed Asset Specialist will be a key member of the Development Accounting team, assisting teammates with the monthly funding procedures for development projects, monthly closing, and other project cost processes. Key Responsibilities/Duties Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Fixed Assets & Capitalization Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger for development and construction projects Track project costs and ensure proper capitalization in accordance with GAAP and tax reporting requirements as applicable Manage asset setup, transfers, disposals, and depreciation schedules – with a focus on automation and maximizing efficiencies Coordinate project closeouts and routine transition from work in progress (WIP) to placed-in-service assets Work closely with external CPA firm and joint venture partners to ensure timely tax reporting Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation related to fixed assets Loan Draw Management Prepare and submit monthly loan draw requests to lenders in accordance with loan agreements, or any other process required to receive funding to pay Development invoices in a timely manner Compile required documentation including pay applications, invoices, lien waivers, and cost summaries Track draw approvals, funding status, and disbursements Reconcile loan balances and ensure proper recording of debt activity Maintain compliance with lender reporting requirements and deadlines Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to all development related projects including CapEx Prepare account reconciliations for fixed assets, CIP, and loan-related accounts Assist with inputting project budgets and budget revisions Assist in reviewing and entering commitments (contract) and associated change orders Support internal and external recording requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate development or construction Familiarity and experience of fixed asset accounting principles and capitalization policies Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience with Sage Intacct, Yardi, MRI, or similar real estate accounting systems Familiarity with construction contracts, AIA billing, and lien waivers Advanced Excel features (Pivot Tables, Power Query) Analytical thinking Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and coordination skills Problem-solving, process improvement, ability to automate processes and minimize manual inputs High level of accuracy and accountability Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes a general office setting. Extended hours may occasionally be required during critical project periods. The base salary for this position starts at $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
