Senior Data Scientist

Job Summary:
The Senior Data Science Developer will provide advanced technical analytics support for the Mental Health & Addiction program, focusing on delivering and maintaining the Provincial Data Set (PDS) version 2.0 and related clinical area analytics. This role involves designing, coding, and maintaining cloud-based data models and visualizations to support ministry reporting commitments and clinical priorities. Responsibilities:
- Analyze requirements and design, code, and develop reports and scripts using health system and administrative databases.
- Link datasets and build analytic cohorts to support clinical and reporting needs.
- Create and maintain cloud-based data analytics models, dashboards, and reports using Power BI and other tools.
- Collaborate with project members to implement analytics products, conduct reviews, and resolve operational issues.
- Support clinical partners in the effective use of cloud-based data and analytics products.
- Analyze complex technical issues, identify alternatives, and recommend solutions aligned with Mental Health & Addiction clinical priorities.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and analytics products supporting the PDS 2.0 and clinical reporting priorities.
- Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for technical staff.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for meetings, documentation, and presentations.
- Experience with large health system and administrative databases, including data linkage and cohort building.
- Background in health data and public-sector/government experience.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Azure cloud platform, and Power BI.
- Interpersonal skills to explain technical approaches and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience with health data linkage and familiarity with mental health & addictions data and clinical concepts.
- Understanding of PHIPA and data privacy/governance requirements.
- Experience working in product-team delivery environments.
- Must support ministry-related commitments and clinical priorities in Mental Health & Addiction.
- Development and maintenance of critical data pipelines and analytics products with high data quality and validation standards.
- On-site presence required 3 days per week at manager's discretion.
- Work schedule includes a hybrid model with 3 days on-site and remaining days remote, as determined by management.
