Job Description Job Description Rainier Welding, an AISC certified steel fabrication business since 1975, is seeking Welders and Fitters to join our Anacortes, Washington steel fabrication team. Successful candidates will have safety as their # 1 priority as well as previous experience with heavy steel fabrication. Job Title: Welder/Fitter Position Summary This positionis responsible forfitting, welding, and assembling structural steel componentsin accordance withshop drawings, work orders, and company quality standards. Successful candidates willdemonstratea strong commitment tosafety, accuracy, and productivityin a fast-paced fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components Set up materials and equipment for welding operations (FCAW) Perform tack welding and final welding of structural components Operate fabrication machinery and equipment as assigned Perform measurements using both standard and metric systems Inspect work for accuracy and quality prior to completion Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment Move raw materials and finished products safely throughout the shop Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Performadditionalduties as assigned by supervisory personnel Essential Functions Verify equipment is in proper working condition prior to use Review work orders and confirm materials and specifications Accurately measure, mark, and position materials Perform basic math functions including fractions and metric conversions Always follow all company safety policies and procedures Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals Minimum Qualifications AWS and/or WABO Welding Certification (preferred orrequiredbased on role) Demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication Blueprint reading experiencerequired Ability to read a tape measure and perform layout work accurately Basic math skills (standard and metric systems) Ability to follow directions and work under supervision Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to pass apre-employment drug screening and background check Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time Frequent use of hands, arms, and manual dexterity Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed Ability to lift and/or move up to80 pounds Ability tomaintainbalance and work safely in an active shop environment Visual ability including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment Work Environment Structural steel fabrication shop with elevated noise levels Exposure to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment Indoor and outdoor working conditions depending on workload Safety-sensitive environment requiring full attention and situational awareness Pre-Employment Requirements Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening Criminal background check Ability to meet physical demands of the position Weld Test Requirement: - Candidates must complete an on-siteAWS FCAW weld testin bothvertical and overhead positionsusing.052 wire.
