Essential Functions Assists in managing classroom ensuring compliance with all Pennsylvania regulations, company standards, policies and procedures. Provides a welcoming and friendly classroom environment for all children, parents, and visitors. Assists in maintaining attractive and current classroom/hallway displays and an educational and informative Parent Board that is updated regularly. Assists in creating and implementing thorough, timely lesson plans that are age appropriate and stimulating in accordance with weekly themes and Celebree’s curriculum; assists in managing effective classroom transitions. Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsel children as needed using positive and appropriate discipline techniques. Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of classroom is appropriately maintained. Assists in completing all classroom paperwork, e.g., daily Reports, accident reports, attendance records. Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on their child’s development and classroom happenings. Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the classroom/school and works with the senior staff teacher and director to resolve. Physical Demands The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching, lifting and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds. Qualifications and Education An Assistant Teacher shall have attained one of the following qualification levels: A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field. A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in § 3270.31(c) (relating to age and training). A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children. A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post‑secondary training curriculum described in § 3270.31(c).
