Accountant

Responsibilities Lead annual budgeting for assigned association clients Deliver financial reports and presentations for boards of directors Oversee corporate filings, insurance renewals, and tax documentation with outside accounting firms Monitor cash flow and financial trends Supervise and mentor accounting support staff handling payables, receivables, and reconciliations Implement and maintain SOPs across clients Ensure transactions are coded accurately and processed according to GAAP and Celtic quality standards Modernize systems, automate reporting, and improve data visibility Prepare monthly and year-to-date financial summaries for client boards and executive teams Provide variance analysis and recommendations for fiscal decision-making Manage event and sponsorship budgets, forecasting outcomes and ROI Advise clients and leadership on financial matters Oversee online event registration and payment processes Reconcile revenues, refunds, and registration data with event planners and membership teams Support integration of financial and membership management systems Maintain AMCI accreditation standards Support internal audits, profitability tracking, and document retention compliance Contribute to client proposals, renewals, and Association Division growth initiatives Represent Celtic Chicago professionally and contribute to its profitability, efficiency, and culture Travel occasionally for client meetings and conferences Requirements Association accounting experience strongly preferred Technical accounting expertise Detail-driven and proactive approach Ability to lead annual budgeting processes Ability to prepare financial reports and presentations for boards of directors Knowledge of corporate filings, insurance renewals, and tax documentation Ability to monitor cash flow and financial trends Experience supervising and mentoring accounting support staff Knowledge of daily payables, receivables, and reconciliations Ability to implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) Knowledge of GAAP Ability to modernize systems, automate reporting, and improve data visibility Experience with variance analysis and fiscal recommendations Ability to manage event and sponsorship budgets, forecasting outcomes and ROI Experience with online event registration and payment processes Ability to reconcile revenues, refunds, and registration data Ability to integrate financial and membership management systems Knowledge of AMCI accreditation standards Ability to support internal audits, profitability tracking, and document retention compliance Ability to communicate proactively, manage deadlines independently, and collaborate with teams Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in association accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting processes while ensuring compliance with GAAP and AMCI standards.
