Job Title: Medical Surgical RN Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active RN License in the state of employment Certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Epic Experience Preferred Charge Experience Preferred Description: FLOAT REQUIRED TO ALL CAMPUS LOCATIONS. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical environment. Candidates should have experience with Epic charting systems. First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have 3-5 years of experience. Required weekend shifts equal to one per week, which may be every other weekend or spread across weekends. The clinician will float within the scope to meet facility needs. Floating may include any medical surgical unit and any unit as a 1:1 observer. Assignments may occur at various critical access hospitals and trauma centers. Primary RN duties may be assigned in any medical surgical department or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department. The potential exists for assignments in the emergency department to care for boarding medical surgical patients. Locals are not accepted due to a 75-mile radius rule. Pending licenses are not accepted. There are no scheduled call shifts, but a clinician may be placed on standby if necessary. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census and number of visits per day are not specified. Interdisciplinary support includes multiple teams and services such as IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Examples of patient diagnoses include COPD, stroke, total joint surgery, sepsis, and others. Experience in trauma care, particularly level II, is preferred. Travel experience is required. Candidates must possess the ability to handle various procedures and skills related to the medical surgical setting and critical care.
