Outside Sales Representative

Position Summary The Outside Sales Representative owns assigned territory. This individual will guide their Inside sales team and manage the customers in the territory to meet company sales and profit initiatives. The Outside Sales Representative reports to the Area Sales Manager and works closely with Inside Sales reps to provide superior customer experiences internally and externally. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Directs sales activity by leading the Inside sales team, communicating the needs of the customer across the organization, and reporting performance and market trends for the territory. Facilitates the sales planning and execution process to support territory growth. Analyzes current sales trends, market conditions, and other pertinent information to drive the sales planning process and ensure all areas are capable of meeting customer needs. Works with R&D and managers to help develop the roadmap for future‑generation products or markets. Fosters continuous engagement with customers, including customer visits, facilitation of on‑site meetings, and participation in industry trade shows. Drives personal talent development through product knowledge, sales training, value selling, and objection handling. Leads commercial discussions and takes action to solve customer concerns. Builds strong relationships with top‑tier customers and develops in‑depth knowledge of other mid‑upper level customers/prospects as directed. Focuses on growing the territory through market share growth, cross‑selling opportunities, and new business. Utilizes company tools strategically to navigate the territory. Obtains sales and orders. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet the qualifications listed below. Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university or equivalent work experience. Experience/Skills/Abilities Required Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s motor vehicle safety standards; driving is an essential function of the role. Must be willing to sign the company’s standard non‑compete agreement. Prior outside sales experience is required. Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize duties; detail‑oriented. Action‑oriented: enjoys working hard, takes initiative, and seizes opportunities. Business acumen: understands how businesses work, current and potential market policies, practices, and trends, and knows the competition. Customer focus: dedicated to meeting customer expectations, gathering first‑hand customer information, and using it to improve products and services. Work Environment / Physical Demands Office, fabrication, and manufacturing shops – moderate to loud noise level. The position regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and/or hearing. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. The position frequently performs duties away from the place of business and requires frequent driving.
