Title: Public Health Nurse Supervisor State Role Title: RN II/Nurse Prct I/Phy Asst Hiring Range: $85,307-$90,318 Pay Band: 5 Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: PORTSMOUTH -TW Agency Website: Job Duties Exercises line supervision over multiple registered nurses by training, scheduling, formally evaluating performance and issuing discipline. Also performs direct nursing service by independently providing professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools. Performs nursing assessments, may conduct lab tests, take measurements, develop and implement care plans, including administration of medication and case management. Actions performed at this level require licensure as an RN by state code. Licensure and Certifications Valid RN license in Virginia or a compact state. New graduates must obtain the RN license within 90 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Adherence to all safety policies, including driver safety policies and state policies. Documentation of required immunizations: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella; a one‑time dose of Tdap; and current season’s influenza vaccination. Knowledge of grants, case management, ambulatory clinic services, and programs supporting underserved and underinsured populations. Knowledge of public and community health principles, and of nursing and health care programs. Knowledge of nursing theories related to improving community health.
