Public Health Nurse Manager Senior

Public Health Nurse Manager Senior Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: Chesapeake HQ Pay Range: $108,357.00–$113,235.00 Responsibilities Manages a district nursing program or, in larger districts, part of a comprehensive nursing program, including formal supervision of Nurse Supervisors. Key responsibilities include developing and monitoring the budget, recruiting staff, procuring and administering grants, conducting community needs assessment, allocating resources, ensuring quality assurance of service delivery, and serving as a member of the district management team. The role occasionally involves direct nursing service by providing professional care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, performing nursing assessments, administering lab tests, taking measurements, developing and implementing care plans, administering medication, and case management. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia. Minimum Qualifications Licensure as an RN in Virginia Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Extensive knowledge of nursing management, public health nursing, and public health practices Proven ability to provide effective leadership and operations management; ability to direct subordinate nurse managers and supervisors in achieving agency objectives Excellent oral and written communication skills, community assessment, planning, and staff development Ability to collaboratively lead staff, synthesize and interpret data, and communicate with staff, patients, and the public; ability to monitor and evaluate quality assurance of nursing programs; ability to present results and nursing outcomes to internal and external constituencies Preferred Qualifications Master’s in Nursing or Management and/or B.S. in Nursing preferred Public health nursing and senior-level administrative experience, including Incident Command System (ICS) experience preferred EEO Statement The Commonwealth and VDH are committed to ensuring equal opportunity and a non-discriminatory hiring environment.
