Summer Camp Program Leader

Responsibilities Serve the campers and staff as a positive role model, building healthy and respectful relationships with all Ensure appropriate weekly activity plans and schedules have been designed and approved Provide supply request forms to the Camp Director Oversee daily operations in the absence of the Director Meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child Support camper behavioral issues Maintain cleanliness of all utilized facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment Sustain open communication while communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders, including children, parents, staff, and supervisors Comply with all mandated reporting requirements Maintain confidentiality and effectively operate in an environment which involves sensitive situations with participants, families, staff, and the general public Assist with the maintenance of records such as camper and staff attendance, schedules and time sheets, and written reports Perform duties in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, offices, classrooms, indoor gymnasiums, outdoor fields, waterfronts, and field trips to different locations Regular attendance on scheduled workdays is required Attend scheduled pre‑camp and in‑service staff meetings and trainings Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Knowledge and/or familiarity with: Basic principles and practices of community recreation Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment Principles and procedure of confidential record keeping Effective customer service practices A variety of games, sports, activities, riddles, songs, and arts & crafts that children will enjoy Positive behavior management techniques Water safety Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment Ability to follow and provide directions to complete assigned tasks Be flexible and a team player A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an after school, camp, recreation, or school setting Supervision of and guidance to members of staff Work with children ages 4-14 Experience scheduling and planning activities for children Has addressed behavioral issues with children, parents and staff CPR/ First Aid certified Job Type Seasonal (May – August) Salary $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Schedule Full Time: up to 40 hours/week (June – August) Planning weeks: part‑time hours June 1 st through June 17 th , 2026 Orientation: Week of June 22 nd Camp Dates: Monday-Friday; Monday, June 29 th – Friday, August 21 st , 2026 Work Location In‑person Safari Camp, Grades K-4: J.
