In-Home Services Counselor 7E (IHSC, DSP)

Residential Services, Inc. (RSI) is hiring a full-time Independent Living Skills Counselor (IHSC) for our In-Home Adult program in North Branch, MN. Salary: $21.75-$22.75 per hour

Shift times are flexible during business hours. (8am-4:30pm/8:30am-5:00pm for example). There may be an occasional night or weekend as needed.
This position will office out of our North Branch location. Estimating around 25% of the time will be spent in the office while the remainder of the time will be working in the field. This position will support the areas of North Branch, Cambridge, and surrounding areas.
18+ is required.

What you’ll do as an Independent Living Skills Counselor:
As an IHS Counselor, you will serve adults/youth living in private home settings. You will help individuals achieve their maximum level of independence by providing skill training and supports needed to perform everyday tasks. You will assess the person’s needs and work collaboratively with the person and their support team to develop and implement supports plans that will help them achieve independence in a variety of skill areas, including:

• Physical and personal needs
• Communication
• Household management
• Community living/mobility
• Reduction/elimination of maladaptive behavior
• Sensory/motor development
• Socialization
• Vocational and educational
• Health and wellness

For this position, you will need:

• A valid driver’s license with no restrictions and have a working vehicle
• Education and/or Experience:  Education must be related to a field in human services, education, or health. Work experience must include full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or age 65 and older or equivalent work experience providing care or education to vulnerable adults or children.
  • A four-year degree with at least one year of work experience in the field  or
  • A combination of a two-year degree and at least two years of experience in the field  or
  • A diploma from a post-secondary institution and three years of experience in the field  or  
  • Four years of work experience in the field with 50 hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities.
• To pass a post-offer background check and Motor Vehicle Report check
