Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a high-acuity environment. This position is crucial in providing exceptional care to a diverse patient population within a Level III trauma center.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications via barcode scanning and manage medication drips.
• Perform blood product administration.
• Conduct triage as needed; candidates must pass the hospital's Triage Test prior to triage duties.
• Set up chest tubes and arterial lines, and assist with trauma and code cases.
• Provide splinting and support with BiPAP/ventilator management.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI).

Patient Population

The Registered Nurse will care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, including those with:

• Medical and trauma emergencies in pediatrics.
• Neurological events (stroke management).
• Cardiac conditions (cath lab involvement).
• Behavioral health and substance use disorders.

Patient Ratios

Staffing ratios will vary based on patient acuity, typically ranging from 1:3 to 1:5. The Emergency Department operates in designated zones, including a fast track area.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-volume emergency department with high acuity patients.
• Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC.
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with point-of-care labs is a plus.

Shifts and Schedule

Available shifts include days, mids, evenings, and nights. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, with flexibility needed for scheduling.

Location

This position is located in a city in the state of your choice. The facility encompasses a total of 226 beds, with 34 designated for the Emergency Department, managing 200-250 ED visits daily.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Experience with EMR system, specifically Epic, is required for this role.
