Position: OB Hospitalist - Full-Time/Part-time/PRN
Hospital: Ascension St. Joseph - Chicago
Location: Chicago, IL

The hospital provides continuous support throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, offering services like 24/7 OB emergency care, breastfeeding guidance, and childbirth education. For high-risk pregnancies, maternal-fetal medicine specialists collaborate closely with OB/GYNs to deliver advanced diagnostics and specialized treatment. The hospital has 900 deliveries per year.

What Does an OB/GYN Hospitalist Do?

\n
• Caring for all pregnant women who present emergently, regardless of circumstance
\n
• Cultivating relationships with staff nurses and hospital personnel
\n
• Supporting private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
\n
• Caring for unassigned patients
\n
• Evaluating and treating triage patients
\n
• Providing consultation to the ED
\n
• Monitoring labor and Delivering babies
\n
• Performing surgery and surgical assists
\n
• Evaluating and treating postpartum patients
\n
• Assisting with OB residents and medical student education
\n
• Providing nurse support and education
\n
• Participating in emergency drills and simulations
\n
• Developing best practices
\n
• Participating in clinical trials
\n
• Facilitating daily interdisciplinary board rounds to improve patient safety
