Telecommunications Technician

Role The Customer Service Technician will be performing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high‑speed internet, video and voice networks including associated wiring and equipment, and maintaining and repairing outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas. Location and Schedule Full time position located in the Eustis and Leesburg, FL area. Typical schedule Monday – Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. May also include nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional on‑call duty. Main Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high‑speed internet, video and voice networks including associated wiring and equipment. Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities. Climb poles, use a shovel and pick to dig up and bury cable; work in manholes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV) and locate buried telephone cables. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Assist other technical personnel in performance of duties when requested. Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company’s products and services to customers. Actively support sales and marketing related activities and direct customer‑facing work and sales referrals. Maintain accountability/dependability – on time and on load when scheduled and serve on call as needed. Collaborate with teammates to complete work efficiently and achieve key service measures. Apply active listening and ask relevant questions to quickly resolve problems and clarify information. Engage in active learning to improve skills and knowledge. Assume other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (or higher). (Education/experience) Ability to distinguish colors on facilities. Ability to handle 28‑ft extension ladders (up to 75 lbs routine work) and manhole covers (up to 150 lbs). Successful completion of service tech boot camp training, POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, air pressure, and HSI installations (self and full). Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes) and to work aloft (e.g., ladder). Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours of the day/night. Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a customer‑facing telecom operations technician. Basic electrical training/certification or documented equivalent work experience. ADSL installation/repair experience (self/full installs). A+/Net+ Certified. Required soft skills. Compensation Minimum hourly rate: $15.61. Maximum hourly rate: $34.94.
