Job Summary This role serves as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The incumbent is responsible for effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members, ensuring quality patient outcomes, and contributing to unit and department strategic goals. Responsibilities Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and interdisciplinary needs. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and partners with interdisciplinary teams. Uses data to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale. Adapts communication and behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and cultural sensitivities. Performs other related duties as required. Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Work Experience Required: None. Certifications Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred: Certification in a clinical specialty area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work: Occasional lifting of 50–100 pounds, frequent lifting of 25–50 pounds, or constant lifting of 10–20 pounds. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases is inherent to the role. Occupational risk for hazardous medications and waste is present. Compliance & Privacy Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements.
