NBT Commercial Loan Operations Specialist

Pay Range: $25.48 - $33.98

NBT Commercial Loan Operations Specialists independently perform complex commercial operational tasks within Operations functional areas. Utilize technical expertise in the designated area and resolve escalated issues, supporting customer service. Apply experienced knowledge of commercial loan structure and documentation, policy, procedures, regulations, and law to area of focus and ensuring adherence to loan approval and commercial loan documentation. Interpret and complete requests for data input, maintenance, verification, and data collection. This role supports both monetary and non-monetary transactions, which require reconciliation. Utilize advanced knowledge and provide implementation support for projects including testing of release enhancements to loan accounting system and origination systems. Utilizing a strong understanding of the loan accounting system and impact, provide guidance to staff and collaborate with peers, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals. Independently discerns solutions for business situations. Creates and updates procedures, with supervisor's approval, while ensuring compliance and following regulations. Activities directly impact customer accounts, bank reporting, and real time information. May prepare reports and furnish information to authorized persons within and including internal loan review audits. Foster and maintain inclusive, collaborative and courteous relationships with internal customers, colleagues and peers; inspire others and develop mutually-beneficial internal & external networks.

Education and Experience:

Associates degree and 3 years' experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience in assigned operational area preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow procedures and interrogate data required. Strong organizational skills required. Good communication skills (written and oral) required. Accounting and computer skills preferred.

Tasks Performed:

50% Process a variety of complex Business Banking and commercial transactions and/or tasks as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: accurate boarding of complex loan structures with, multiple collateral pledging and balancing GLs. Providing guidance to teammates on complex functions, resolving complex exception items, interacting with vendors and project teams. Complete higher level tasks on the team requiring analysis and independent judgement and decision making.

15% Provide support to internal and/or external customers as well as department teammates, cross train on and provide coverage for other team duties as required.

15% Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position. Ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ongoing focus on risk and fraud mitigation.

10% Upholds service level standards under normal conditions.

5% Develop and update procedures in conjunction with the supervisor and assist with employee training and onboarding.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers. Stationary 75% of time or greater. Move objects to maximum 10 lbs.
