We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Educator to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering education that supports clinical excellence across our interdisciplinary workforce. Whether your background is nursing, social work, or professional counseling, you'll play a vital role in onboarding new team members, strengthening clinical competencies, supporting regulatory readiness, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Position SummaryThe Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that enhance the clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies of staff throughout the hospital. This individual serves as a trusted educator, mentor, and clinical resource for employees across multiple disciplines, supporting excellence in pediatric behavioral health and complex medical care.
The Clinical Educator also serves as the lead facilitator for clinical onboarding and orientation, ensuring new employees receive a comprehensive introduction to clinical practices, safety standards, documentation expectations, and the Nexus culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Education & Staff Development- Assess learning needs through competency evaluations, quality metrics, and regulatory requirements.
- Design, develop, and deliver evidence-based educational programs that support clinical excellence and organizational goals.
- Facilitate instructor-led training, workshops, simulations, and competency validation activities.
- Adapt educational content to meet diverse learning styles and professional disciplines.
- Document educational activities, competencies, and outcomes.
- Lead clinical orientation and onboarding for newly hired staff.
- Coordinate structured orientation plans in collaboration with department leaders and Human Resources.
- Provide mentorship and guidance during the onboarding process.
- Support employee engagement, confidence, and long-term retention.
- Serve as an ongoing clinical resource for staff.
- Provide coaching related to best practices, patient safety, behavioral interventions, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Assist leaders in identifying opportunities for staff development and performance improvement.
- Coordinate annual competencies and required clinical education.
- Ensure educational programming supports regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Assist departments in maintaining survey readiness through education and competency management.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs using competency data, employee feedback, and quality outcomes.
- Utilize findings to improve educational offerings and clinical performance.
- Promote evidence-based practices that improve patient care and organizational outcomes.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, therapists, behavioral health professionals, leadership, and Human Resources to support interdisciplinary education initiatives.
- Participate in committees, quality initiatives, and organizational projects that advance clinical excellence.
- Encourage lifelong learning and professional growth among staff.
- Support continuing education, specialty certifications, and leadership development opportunities.
One of the following is required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW)
- Master's degree in Counseling or a related behavioral health field
Master's degree preferred for nursing candidates.
LicensureOne of the following active Texas licenses is required:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting required.
- Previous experience in staff education, training, clinical supervision, or professional development preferred.
- Experience working with pediatric behavioral health, neurodevelopmental disorders, or complex medical populations is highly preferred.
- BLS required (or obtained within established timeframe if applicable to discipline)
- Behavioral management/de-escalation certification required per facility standards
- Additional discipline-specific certifications are a plus
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop engaging educational programs and competency assessments.
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards within healthcare.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with learning management systems and educational technology preferred.
