We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector to ensure welded and fabricated products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in TIG welding, fabrication, and quality inspection who takes pride in precision and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the quality team, you will play a critical role in maintaining product integrity by performing detailed inspections, identifying weld defects, verifying compliance with engineering drawings and specifications, and partnering with production teams to drive excellence across the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-process and final inspections of welded and fabricated components to verify compliance with quality standards, engineering specifications, and established procedures.
• Perform detailed visual weld inspections, identifying defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other discontinuities.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication documents to confirm dimensional accuracy, fit-up requirements, and tolerance compliance.
• Complete and maintain accurate weld maps, inspection reports, and quality documentation to ensure full traceability.
• Evaluate nonconforming welds and recommend effective repair methods based on quality requirements and industry best practices.
• Provide constructive coaching and technical guidance to welders, helping improve welding techniques, consistency, and quality performance.
• Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and production teams to investigate quality concerns, implement corrective actions, and reduce recurring defects.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure all inspection records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company quality standards.
• Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and quality throughout the production environment.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in TIG welding and fitting within a fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
• Demonstrated experience performing visual weld inspections and quality evaluations on fabricated assemblies.
• Comprehensive understanding of common weld defects, their causes, and accepted repair methodologies.
• Experience completing weld maps, inspection records, and quality control documentation.
• Solid knowledge of fabrication processes, welding procedures, and manufacturing workflows.
• Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback and collaborate effectively across departments.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a fabrication shop, welding facility, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with quality assurance systems and production quality processes.
• Experience in troubleshooting weld quality issues and implementing preventative measures.
• Experience supporting cross-functional teams in quality improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This position is based in a dynamic fabrication and manufacturing facility where quality is at the center of everything we do. You will work directly on the shop floor, utilizing blueprints, weld maps, measuring tools, and visual inspection methods to ensure products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
