The Pharmacist in Charge manages the pharmacy to provide a safe environment to perform all dispensing functions in the outpatient clinics. The Pharmacist in Charge coordinates with clinic management on any issues relating to the pharmacy and is responsible for the agency assets of the pharmacy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job. Provide pharmacy services in the outpatient clinic. All dispensing functions, including upholding and enforcing all State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Prepare ordered pharmaceutical preparations. Contact and confer with physicians concerning medication orders as needed. Patient counseling and resolution of patient problems as they arise. Organize daily operational duties. Direct pharmacy technicians to maintain quality workflow. Perpetuate inventory and records for narcotics. Maintain all standards as required by OBRA 90. Uphold all rules and regulations of Metrocare Services. Demonstrate willingness to participate in and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy. Pharmacy Director may assign additional duties. Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with the ethical standards of conduct, state contract, appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws. Analytical skills, professional acumen, business ethics, thorough understanding of continuous improvement processes, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, and excellent communication skills. As required for licensing as a Pharmacist. Precise, self‑motivating, professional acumen, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, good communication skills. Must be able to speak in front of unfamiliar people. Alert, observant, dedicated, and able to take initiative. Computer operations skills. Work in a managed work environment. Qualifications, Education and Experience Must have a current license with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or higher. One year of internship. Minimum of 1‑year experience in a retail pharmacy setting. Must be familiar with all functions of the pharmacy department. Bilingual in Spanish and/or American Sign Language is a plus. Mathematical Skills Basic math skills required. Ability to work with reports and numbers. Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two‑step instructions. Deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer Skills Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Utilize the Internet for resources. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Current State of Texas Driver License or if residing in another state, a valid license in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment. Liability insurance required if an employee will operate a personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by the Center’s liability carrier for such use. Must have an acceptable driving record. Licensed with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Benefits Medical/Dental/Vision. Paid Time Off. Paid Holidays. Employee Assistance Program.
