Hillcrest Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Department provides pediatric care services in child‑friendly waiting rooms where they have more privacy and comfort. This department is staffed 24/7 with board‑certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, as well as nurses who are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and pediatric trauma care. The Pediatric Emergency Department has a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) unit which provides children who are victims of assault, abuse or neglect with private care, utmost respect, compassion, complete physical assessments and, if needed, collecting physical evidence. The Emergency Department also has Child Life Specialists who help reduce anxiety for children and their families and provide guidance and emotional support. Shift schedule: A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions. Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns. Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol. Minimum qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program). Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC – pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within one year of hire. One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience. Preferred qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). ICU or critical care experience. Pediatric experience. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $35.50 Maximum hourly: $55.60 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
