Position Overview Posting #: 5561 Position Status: Faculty, Part-time temporary Location: San Diego Position Type: Faculty, College of Arts and Sciences Position Title: Lecturer, Physics and Biophysics The USD Physics and Biophysics Department seeks applications for a part-time instructor for the following courses for Fall 2026 (in-person modality). Responsibilities General Physics II: algebra-based introductory physics lecture for life science majors. General Physics II Lab: companion lab to General Physics II. General Physics I Lab: companion lab to General Physics I. Introduction to Electricity and Magnetism Lab: companion lab to the second-semester, calculus-based introductory physics course. Part-time instructors will not teach more than 6 units per semester. Lecture courses carry a 3-unit teaching load and labs carry a 2-unit load. Part-time instructors will hold 1.5 hours of in-person office hours per course taught. Job Requirements Minimum qualifications: MS in Physics (or a closely related field such as Applied Physics) before the starting date (August 2026). Preferred qualifications: PhD in Physics and college-level teaching experience beyond the teaching assistant level. Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check. Degree verification requirement: Persons offered employment must provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. Compensation Compensation will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at a per-unit rate of $2,581-$2,659, commensurate with qualifications.
