The Latino Coalition for Community Leadership (LCCL) is a grant intermediary dedicated to strengthening nonprofit organizations serving impacted communities. Through our mission to Find, Fund, Form, and Feature nonprofits, we invest in organizations that are deeply rooted in and led by the communities they serve.
LCCL administers Federal and State grants that are sub-granted to approximately 50 nonprofit Community Partner organizations across Colorado and California. Many of our partners are managing government funding for the first time, and we work alongside them to build strong financial, administrative, and organizational capacity that supports long-term success and sustainability.
Position Overview
The Director of Fiscal Capacity is a key leadership position within LCCL's Fiscal Team. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial capacity-building, fiscal monitoring, and compliance support provided to Community Partner organizations receiving subgrants or participating in fiscal sponsorship arrangements.
Community Partner subgrants and fiscal sponsorships currently represent approximately 75% of LCCL's overall budget. As a result, this role plays a critical part in ensuring both Community Partner financial systems and LCCL's internal financial processes effectively support organizational goals, funding requirements, and long-term impact.
The Director of Fiscal Capacity will provide leadership to fiscal review staff, oversee subgrantee fiscal processes, contribute to internal accounting operations, and partner closely with senior leadership to strengthen fiscal management systems across the organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Fiscal Capacity Building & Technical Assistance
- Conduct fiscal assessments of Community Partner organizations.
- Provide technical assistance related to:
- Budget development and management
- Internal controls
- Cost allocation methodologies
- Allowability of expenses
- Indirect cost calculations
- Financial systems and processes
- Deliver training, coaching, and resources based on identified organizational needs.
Compliance & Financial Oversight
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, local, and contractual regulations and requirements.
- Monitor Community Partner use of grant and contract funds.
- Provide guidance regarding allowable costs and expenditures.
- Support Community Partners in meeting fiscal reporting requirements.
- Oversee fiscal sponsorship Community Partners and ensure LCCL fulfills its responsibilities as fiscal agent.
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Monitor and improve budgeting processes impacting Community Partners and organizational budgets.
- Oversee fiscal review of reimbursement requests and grantmaking activities.
- Ensure:
- Accurate financial allocations
- Budget adherence
- Appropriate project coding
- Assist with grant-specific General Ledger oversight, including:
- In-kind contribution tracking and reporting
- Fiscal sponsorship fee management
- Community Partner program service revenue tracking
- Monitor grant- and contract-specific spending caps and allowances, including:
- Housing-related funding restrictions
- Participant expense limitations
- Administrative expense caps that apply to both LCCL and Community Partners
Leadership & Internal Operations
- Provide oversight and direction to fiscal review staff and fiscal monitoring processes.
- Maintain project, contract, and fiscal training guides and procedure manuals.
- Assist the Director of Finance and Executive Team with financial reporting to funders.
- Contribute to the development of a strong, collaborative fiscal team.
- Partner with organizational leadership to continuously improve financial systems and processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in public or private accounting.
- Demonstrated experience with nonprofit accounting strongly preferred.
- Proven knowledge of day-to-day financial and accounting management within nonprofit organizations.
- Understanding of the financial needs of social enterprises is a plus.
- CPA preferred.
- Experience with Federal grants and Federal Uniform Guidance preferred.
- Experience managing State, County, and City contracts preferred.

- Knowledge of multiple accounting software platforms; experience with Sage Intacct nonprofit accounting software is a plus.

Work Environment & Travel Requirements
This is a fully remote position utilizing virtual office technology. However, candidates must reside in either Colorado or California.
Employees must:
- Maintain a safe and productive home office environment.
- Have reliable high-speed internet capable of supporting operational needs.
- Be available for occasional local and out-of-state travel for training, meetings, and staff development activities.
- Possess reliable transportation.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
- Must reside in either Colorado or California.
